The Blue Coat School is widely recognised as one of the country’s leading state grammar schools for students aged 11 to 18. Over the past decade, the Sixth Form has developed significantly, benefiting from modern facilities and an expanded provision.

(All courses are offered subject to sufficient demand.)

Most students study three A Levels, though some may take four, depending on their academic profile.

  • Four A Levels are typically reserved for students with very strong GCSE results ( 66+ points from their best 8 subjects) including those studying Further Mathematics
  • A Grade 7 at GCSE is generally required for A Level subjects
  • Further Mathematics requires at least a Grade 8, with a Grade 9 strongly advised

Students are expected to remain committed to their chosen subjects for the full two-year course.
