Being a Sixth Former at Blue Coat, I have truly valued the level of support I receive from staff in preparing me for the next chapter of my life beyond 18. Since joining in Year 7, I have always felt safe, supported and encouraged to aim high in everything I do - and this has only grown stronger in Sixth Form. Having the opportunity to take on leadership roles within school has enabled me to develop vital skills and confidence that will undoubtedly benefit me long after I leave.

“Staying at Blue Coat for Sixth Form was the best decision for me. The step up from GCSE is definitely real, but the teachers have been incredibly supportive in helping me bridge that gap. I really value being treated with greater maturity – it feels much more like a partnership in learning rather than simply being told what to do. The independence we’re given, especially during study periods, has helped me stay on top of the workload and explore my subjects in much greater depth."

Joining Blue Coat for Sixth Form brought its own challenges, alongside the step up from GCSEs to A Levels. However, the school community made this transition far more manageable. The teachers are incredibly passionate about their subjects and consistently supportive throughout the journey. There is also excellent guidance for life beyond Blue Coat, including support with university applications and exploring other future pathways. Being treated with respect and as an individual has helped me to grow not only academically, but also in confidence and social skills.
