Our Aims

We believe that The Blue Coat School is a learning community committed to academic excellence and guided by principles of justice and compassion. We aim to foster intellectual, physical, moral, cultural and spiritual development. We expect everyone to demonstrate qualities of courtesy, honesty, diligence and enterprise. We believe education to be an undertaking of supreme importance, enabling all to become responsible citizens and active participants and leaders in the wider community.

Our School motto therefore holds true: ‘Not for oneself, but for all.’

Over the past year, The Blue Coat School Liverpool has undertaken a comprehensive and inclusive consultation process to refresh and formalise the school’s Vision, Vision Headlines, and Values. This work has been central to ensuring that our strategic direction reflects the aspirations, experiences, and priorities of the whole school community.

The revision of the school’s Vision and Values was initiated to ensure that our guiding statements:

• Reflect our ambition to be an inclusive, forward-thinking, and high-performing school.
• Align with our ethos of Non Sibi Sed Omnibus — not for oneself but for all.
• Capture the lived reality of students, staff, parents, and trustees.
• Position the school confidently for the next phase of its development.
• Address the need to be explicit about inclusion, belonging, and diversity.
• Acknowledge our long and complex history while setting a modern, future-focused direction.
