Meeting at lunchtime, the group has already started discussing practical ways in which they can improve the school site, reduce waste and encourage everyone in our community to think more carefully about sustainability. The club will give students a genuine voice in shaping
environmental initiatives across Blue Coat.

One of the most impressive examples of their work can already be seen in the final photograph. In the students’ own words, this is “our tree” – a tree they have nurtured and grown from something that had originally been thrown over the school wall. What could easily have been regarded as waste has instead been given a new life.

It is a fitting symbol for the Eco Club: taking responsibility for our environment, making the most of what we have and recognising that small actions can make a lasting difference. We look forward to seeing the group’s ideas – and their tree – continue to grow.
