  • Year 10 Students Attend Carmel College High Achievers Day

A group of our Year 10 students recently attended Carmel College's High Achievers Day, an inspiring event designed to challenge, motivate and support academically ambitious young people as they begin to consider their post-16 education and future career aspirations.

Bringing together high-achieving students from schools across the region, the event offered an excellent opportunity to experience life in a sixth form college environment while gaining valuable insight into the next stage of their educational journey.

Throughout the day, students took part in a series of engaging workshops led by experienced Carmel College staff. The sessions focused on developing the skills needed for success at A Level and beyond, including independent learning, critical thinking, problem-solving and effective study techniques. These activities encouraged students to reflect on the increased academic expectations of sixth form study while building their confidence for the future.

Students also heard from current Carmel College students, who shared their experiences of sixth form life, academic study and the many enrichment opportunities available. Their first-hand accounts provided valuable advice on making the transition from secondary school and offered an honest insight into the challenges and rewards of post-16 education.

A key theme throughout the day was raising aspirations and encouraging students to think ambitiously about their futures. Sessions exploring university, apprenticeships, career pathways and personal development highlighted the importance of making informed choices and setting meaningful goals as they prepare for life beyond GCSEs.

The visit also included a tour of the college campus, giving students the opportunity to explore the excellent facilities and discover the wide range of subjects, extracurricular activities and leadership opportunities on offer. It was a valuable chance to see how sixth form education can support both academic success and personal growth.

The High Achievers Day was an enriching and motivating experience, leaving our students inspired to aim high and make the most of the opportunities available to them. We are grateful to Carmel College for hosting such a worthwhile event and look forward to seeing our Year 10 students continue to develop their ambitions as they prepare for the next stage of their education.
