Following his exceptional performances in both the Hamilton Mathematical Olympiad and the British Mathematical Olympiad (BMO) this year, William has been invited to attend the prestigious UKMT Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp, often known as the Oxford Camp, this summer.

This is a remarkable achievement. Only 24 students from across the United Kingdom have been selected to attend the camp, which plays a key role in identifying and developing potential candidates for the UK team for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) – the world’s most prestigious mathematics competition for school students.

The UKMT Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp is a highly selective residential programme held at the University of Oxford. The week combines advanced problem-solving training, mathematical lectures and opportunities to work alongside some of the country’s most talented young mathematicians, helping participants prepare for national and international competitions.

William’s invitation is a testament to his outstanding mathematical ability, dedication and perseverance. It also reflects the culture of academic excellence that we aim to foster at Blue Coat, where students are encouraged to pursue their interests and develop their talents to the highest level.

William has expressed his gratitude for the support he has received throughout his mathematical journey, particularly from Mr Fee, Mrs Withers and the wider school community. Their encouragement, expertise and commitment have played an important role in helping him achieve this fantastic milestone.
