On Thursday 11 June, a group of Year 12 students visited the University of Liverpool as part of Blue Coat’s ongoing careers and higher education programme.
The visit gave students a valuable opportunity to experience university life first-hand, explore the campus, and gain a deeper understanding of the wide range of courses and career pathways available to them after sixth form. Through a series of workshops, presentations, and discussions with university staff and current undergraduates, students were able to learn more about the academic, social, and personal aspects of higher education.
A key aim of the visit was to support students in making informed decisions about their future. As they begin to consider university applications, apprenticeships, and other career pathways, experiences such as this provide important insight into life beyond school. They also help students to develop a clearer understanding of the skills, qualifications, and attributes needed for success in higher education and the workplace.
The visit forms part of Blue Coat’s comprehensive careers education programme, designed to ensure that all students are well informed about their next steps. By engaging directly with universities, employers, and industry professionals, students are encouraged to raise their aspirations, explore different possibilities, and develop the confidence to make ambitious choices about their future.
The University of Liverpool visit was an excellent opportunity for Year 12 students to experience life in a leading Russell Group university environment and to reflect on their own educational and career aspirations. We hope the experience has inspired them as they begin planning their next steps beyond Blue Coat.
We would like to thank the University of Liverpool for hosting our students and supporting their learning and development.
