On Thursday 26th February 2026, Blue Coat came alive with colour, energy, and celebration as students and staff marked Chinese New Year with a vibrant programme of cultural activities after school f rom 3:30–5:30pm. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for the school community to come together to recognise and appreciate the traditions associated with this important festival.

Earlier this term, 230 students from Years 9, 10 and 11 took part in the UKMT Intermediate Mathematical Challenge (IMC) - a national competition designed to promote mathematical reasoning, precision, and problem-solving at a high level.

We are proud to announce the successful reaccreditation of the school by the Royal College of Organists (RCO), marking an important milestone in our continued commitment to excellence in music education. To celebrate this achievement, the school hosted a wide range of local and national organisations, with our main guests including Sir Andrew Parmley and Lady Ann Dodd, whose presence added great distinction to the occasion and highlighted the national significance of our work in music.

Today marked an exciting milestone for our Year 10 STEM students as two teams of four – Amartya, Jing Chen, Mohamed, Nathan, Darcey, Malika, Lauren and Cara – travelled to Cronton Sixth Form College to take part in the annual Mond Tournament. They competed against students from 20 other schools in a fast-paced and highly challenging STEM competition.

Blue Coat was delighted to host a Liverpool Classical Association public lecture in the LRC on Thursday 15 January, welcoming students, staff and around 60 members of the wider community for an enriching evening of Classical scholarship. The event formed part of the Association’s annual programme, which aims to promote interest and engagement in the Classical world.

The current climate of reduced government funding for schools presents ongoing challenges. Despite our best efforts to sustain all our activities, many of these enriching experiences rely on additional support beyond our core budget.

To help maintain and grow our enrichment provision for the coming academic year, we are asking families, where possible, to consider making a voluntary contribution of £10 per term (£30 annually) per student. This contribution will go directly towards sustaining and enhancing our extracurricular and enrichment activities, ensuring they remain accessible to all.Contributors will be added into a monthly raffle for either a £50 cash prize or prize of an equivalent value, for each £10 paid contributors will receive 1 entry into each month’s draw.
