This week, Blue Coat School Liverpool staged an extraordinary run of Hadestown: Teen Edition, delivering four unforgettable nights of theatre to packed audiences and receiving acclaim f rom across the school community and beyond.

Earlier this term, 230 students from Years 9, 10 and 11 took part in the UKMT Intermediate Mathematical Challenge (IMC) - a national competition designed to promote mathematical reasoning, precision, and problem-solving at a high level.
On Thursday 29th January 2026, Blue Coat held its Year 11 Options Afternoon, an important event designed to support pupils as they began planning their next steps in education and preparing for progression into Sixth Form or other post-16 pathways. This was a key moment for students to explore future subjects, ask questions, and make informed decisions about their options and post-GCSE pathways.
We are proud to announce the successful reaccreditation of the school by the Royal College of Organists (RCO), marking an important milestone in our continued commitment to excellence in music education. To celebrate this achievement, the school hosted a wide range of local and national organisations, with our main guests including Sir Andrew Parmley and Lady Ann Dodd, whose presence added great distinction to the occasion and highlighted the national significance of our work in music.
This term, a group of Year 10 pupils from The Blue Coat School took part in a two-day training programme delivered by Merseyside’s Violence Reduction Partnership (MVRP). The programme supports our commitment to personal development and student leadership, equipping pupils with the skills and confidence to act as positive role models within the school community.
Today marked an exciting milestone for our Year 10 STEM students as two teams of four – Amartya, Jing Chen, Mohamed, Nathan, Darcey, Malika, Lauren and Cara – travelled to Cronton Sixth Form College to take part in the annual Mond Tournament. They competed against students from 20 other schools in a fast-paced and highly challenging STEM competition.
Congratulations to William (10CU), who has achieved an outstanding result in the recent Maths Olympiad, being awarded a Distinction and progressing through to the next round of the competition.
Blue Coat was delighted to host a Liverpool Classical Association public lecture in the LRC on Thursday 15 January, welcoming students, staff and around 60 members of the wider community for an enriching evening of Classical scholarship. The event formed part of the Association’s annual programme, which aims to promote interest and engagement in the Classical world.
Blue Coat School’s A Level Prize-Giving Evening, held on 15th December, was a memorable celebration of achievement, service, and community, bringing together students, families, staff, governors, and distinguished guests.

The current climate of reduced government funding for schools presents ongoing challenges. Despite our best efforts to sustain all our activities, many of these enriching experiences rely on additional support beyond our core budget.
To help maintain and grow our enrichment provision for the coming academic year, we are asking families, where possible, to consider making a voluntary contribution of £10 per term (£30 annually) per student. This contribution will go directly towards sustaining and enhancing our extracurricular and enrichment activities, ensuring they remain accessible to all.Contributors will be added into a monthly raffle for either a £50 cash prize or prize of an equivalent value, for each £10 paid contributors will receive 1 entry into each month’s draw.
We are delighted to share the news of a bespoke partnership between The Liverpool Blue Coat School and the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse.
This collaboration will provide students with incredible opportunities to develop their creativity and confidence through regular drama sessions led by a Creative Practitioner, as well as the chance to take part in performances at the Everyman Theatre. With even more exciting projects to come, this partnership promises to enrich our students’ cultural and artistic experiences.
