We have had a spectacular morning celebrating the results of our Year 11’s where a host of top GCSE results were secured.
We have enjoyed a morning of celebration here at Blue Coat as our Y13 students received their A level results. The year group have achieved some excellent results including 65% of all grades being A* or A. 23 students achieved A* grades in all of their A level subjects.
**RASPBERRY PI CHAMPIONS** We are very proud of our Y11 students (Benedict, Ciaran, William, Archit, Rakesh and Ayush) who competed in the Raspberry Pi competition, and were the winners from over 200 entries from schools across the country. The competition aimed to challenge students to design and build innovative projects using the Raspberry Pi computer. They were invited to showcase their project at the grand final in London on 3/5/23.
To celebrate the Eurovision Song Contest being held in Liverpool this year, we held our very own 'Blue-rovision'. Some very talented acts performed in a lunchtime show in Shirley Hall. Jamie in Year 7 was crowned champion. We had some great judging from the panel of teachers each representing a different European country. It was a fun event for the audience with lots of flag waving and cheering.
On Thursday 9th February 2023, 13 Blue Coat students from years 7-10 took part in the Now! Young People’s Mental Health Festival 2023. Children and young people across Merseyside came together to perform in the city’s eighth annual NOW Festival during Children’s Mental Health Week.
Produced by Merseyside Youth Association, in partnership with the Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership, young people from across the Liverpool City Region shared their voices on mental health and violence prevention. Racism, sexual harassment, online abuse, homophobic abuse, hate crime, and many more topics were explored in a variety of powerful performances.
At the Blue Coat School, we value inclusion, diversity, tolerance, love, respect and equality always! As part of our commitment to ensuring everyone feels welcome in our school community, we are PROUD to announce that we have achieved the Rainbow Flag Award!
The Rainbow Flag Award is a national quality assurance framework for LGBT+ inclusion (see video) https://youtu.be/zYdlfJKYzlw. It has involved months of work by all our stakeholders to provide evidence that we strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment for our LGBT+ community.
We have been able to demonstrate our commitment to challenging LGBT+ phobia and promoting inclusion in 6 key areas of the school, which include skilled teachers, supportive trustees, and parents (thank you!), effective policies, an inclusive curriculum, pastoral support, and most importantly student voice.
