A Special Afternoon at the Everyman: Spoken Word Project Celebrates Student Voices

Students from across Year 7 and Year 12 took to the stage at the Everyman Theatre, Liverpool for a very special performance as part of the school’s Spoken Word Project, which has been running throughout the year.

The afternoon saw students perform original pieces of spoken word and poetry to an audience of parents, staff, local and national dignitaries. Their performances were thoughtful, confident and deeply moving, showcasing the power of young people’s voices when they are given the opportunity to reflect, create and express themselves.

The event was a memorable highlight in our calendar of creative and expressive arts, celebrating the talent, courage and imagination of our students. Each performance demonstrated the confidence and creativity that can be developed when students are encouraged to explore their experiences, ideas and perspectives.

The project has been closely linked to the school’s wider work on belonging and identity, encouraging students to reflect on who they are, the communities they are part of, and their connection to Liverpool’s rich cultural heritage. Alongside the live performance, the project has also resulted in the creation of a film, which will be entered into a range of film festivals and events.

A huge well done to all of the students who performed, and sincere thanks to the Everyman team, Caroline Richardson-Tod, The Blue Coat Foundation and Mr Martin for their support in making such a powerful and inspiring event possible.

This was a wonderful celebration of student creativity, expression and the importance of giving young people a platform to share their stories. We are incredibly proud of everyone involved.
