Blue Coat Students Reach the National Careers Challenge Grand Final

A team of Blue Coat students recently travelled to Telford to compete in the National Careers Challenge Grand Final, one of the UK’s largest careers and enterprise events.

The team, made up of Hana T, Shreya B, Krishank Y, Anisha A, Nieve C and Sanjay P from Year 8, represented Blue Coat with great pride as they joined around 1,000 students from schools across the country to present innovative solutions to real-world challenges set by leading employers. Reaching the Grand Final is a fantastic achievement and reflects the creativity, teamwork and commitment shown by our students throughout the competition.

Unlike many academic competitions, the National Careers Challenge places a strong emphasis on communication and problem-solving, with students presenting their ideas without the use of presentation slides. This challenged participants to rely on their confidence, collaboration and ability to think on their feet. Throughout the event, our students demonstrated professionalism, resilience and enthusiasm as they presented their ideas directly to industry professionals.

The experience provided a valuable opportunity for students to gain insight into the skills employers are looking for, while developing their own confidence, leadership and presentation abilities in a high-pressure environment. Taking part in the Grand Final was about much more than competition; students were able to meet peers from across the country, engage with employers and develop important employability skills that will support them in their future education and careers.

The team created an excellent presentation showcasing their vision for a future airline and delivered it to the judges with confidence and creativity. Their teamwork, innovative thinking and presentation skills impressed the judging panel, and their hard work was rewarded as they secured the top prize: an exciting trip to Alton Towers.

A huge thank you goes to Ms Lewis from the Biology Department for organising and supporting the students throughout the competition. Her encouragement and commitment enabled the team to make the most of this fantastic opportunity.

We are incredibly proud of Hana, Shreya, Krishank, Anisha, Nieve and Sanjay, and congratulate them on this outstanding achievement. Their success is a wonderful example of the ambition, creativity and determination that make Blue Coat students so exceptional.
