Sixth Form Students Inspire the Next Generation at Mosspits Primary School

Twelve of our Year 12 students recently visited Mosspits Primary School to deliver an engaging workshop on Living in a Democracy.

Working with primary pupils, our students explored how democracy shapes everyday life, why voting and representation matter, and the importance of respecting different opinions. Through a range of interactive activities and discussions, the pupils developed a greater understanding of how they can become active, informed and responsible citizens within their own communities.

The visit also provided an excellent opportunity for our Sixth Form students to develop their own leadership, communication and public speaking skills while acting as positive role models for younger learners. Planning and delivering a workshop for primary-aged children required confidence, adaptability and teamwork, and our students rose to the challenge with enthusiasm, maturity and professionalism. It was inspiring to see them sharing their knowledge and encouraging younger pupils to engage with the principles of democracy in an accessible, interactive and enjoyable way.

This workshop is another example of Blue Coat's commitment to outreach and partnership with local primary schools. By working closely with our partner schools, we are creating meaningful opportunities for students to serve the wider community while developing the leadership, collaboration and organisational skills that will support them long after they leave school. These experiences demonstrate that leadership is not confined to the classroom but is expressed through service, responsibility and making a positive difference to others.

A huge thank you goes to Mrs Heery for organising and supporting the visit, and to the twelve Year 12 students who represented Blue Coat with such pride, enthusiasm and professionalism. They were excellent ambassadors for the school, embodying our core values of Courage, Integrity and Service.

Their work at Mosspits Primary School is a wonderful example of our school motto, Non Sibi Sed Omnibus – Not for oneself, but for all, brought to life through leadership, service and a commitment to inspiring the next generation.
