Year 10 Geographers Visit Llandudno for GCSE Fieldwork Investigation

Our Year 10 Geography students recently travelled to Llandudno to undertake an important fieldwork investigation as part of their GCSE Geography course.

Fieldwork is a key component of GCSE Geography, providing students with the opportunity to apply classroom learning to real-world environments. During the visit, students investigated the impacts of post-industrial decline, exploring how economic change has affected employment, regeneration, and industry in the local area.

The experience enabled students to develop essential geographical skills, including data collection, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation. These skills are vital preparation for Paper 3 of the GCSE examination, which assesses students’ understanding of fieldwork processes and their ability to interpret and analyse unfamiliar geographical data.

Beyond examination preparation, fieldwork encourages students to think critically about the world around them, ask geographical questions, and evaluate evidence first-hand. It remains one of the most valuable aspects of the GCSE Geography course, helping students to understand how geographical concepts operate in real places and impact real communities.

The Geography Department was delighted with the enthusiasm, focus, and maturity shown by students throughout the visit. The data collected will now form the basis of further classroom analysis as students continue their GCSE studies
