The summer sports season has continued at a busy pace, with pupils representing the school with commitment, determination and excellent sportsmanship across a number of cricket and rounders fixtures this week.
The U14 cricket team enjoyed an excellent 50-run victory over St Hilda’s School in the Lancashire State Cup. After posting a strong total through disciplined and consistent batting, the team produced a confident bowling and fielding display to secure a convincing win. The result highlighted the significant progress the squad has made this season in both teamwork and match awareness.
The U14s were also in action in the Lancashire Cup against St Mary’s College. Despite a competitive performance and several resilient bowling spells, the team were narrowly defeated by six wickets in a closely contested encounter. The players showed great determination throughout and can take plenty of positives from their efforts.
Meanwhile, the U12 cricket team travelled to face Merchant Taylors’ School in the Lancashire Cup. Against strong opposition, the team battled hard but ultimately fell to a 43-run defeat. Despite the result, there were many encouraging signs, including improved communication in the field and some promising batting partnerships that will provide confidence heading into future fixtures.
The Year 9 rounders team secured an impressive 7–5 victory against Calderstones School. The squad delivered an energetic and well-organised performance, combining accurate fielding with confident batting to maintain control during key stages of the match.
The victory was a deserved reward for the team's hard work and reflected the enthusiasm, teamwork and determination they demonstrated throughout the fixture.
Congratulations to all of our pupils who have represented the school this week. Their commitment, resilience and positive attitude continue to make us proud both on and off the field.
