This term, students from our school took part in the prestigious Royal Society of Chemistry School Analyst Competition, an exciting national event that challenges and inspires young scientists through practical chemistry investigations.
A total of ten teams participated in the competition, demonstrating impressive commitment by attending a series of after-school practical sessions in preparation for the event. These sessions allowed students to develop their scientific knowledge and gain hands-on experience in a laboratory environment.
Throughout the competition, students enhanced a range of important skills, including laboratory techniques, teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving. Working through a variety of forensic science investigations, they were required to analyse evidence, interpret results and apply their scientific understanding to solve complex challenges.
The School Analyst Competition provides a valuable opportunity for students to experience chemistry beyond the classroom while developing the skills used by professional scientists and forensic investigators.
National results will be announced in July, and we are excited to discover how our teams have performed against schools from across the country.
A special thank you goes to Katie McLinden, our Science Technician, whose hard work, dedication and organisation made this fantastic opportunity possible. Her support throughout the preparation process was invaluable in helping students take part in the competition.
We congratulate all of the students involved for their enthusiasm, commitment and hard work, and wish our teams the very best of luck when the results are announced.
