A special activity session for our new Year 7s took place on Blue Coat School’s Lance Lane playing fields, giving our newest students the chance to interact and get to know each other better, while having plenty of fun.

The event, which was funded by the Development Fund and Parents’ Association, for Year 7 students combined using mental capacity and physical energy to perform successfully in a series of tasks.

Many of these tasks encouraged bonding together through well-organised teamwork and showing leadership skills as the students grappled with the skyscraper and stepping-stone challenges.

The weather was kind, which added to the enjoyment of this outdoor occasion and our Year 7 students taking part commented:

“I enjoyed the ‘Danger Zone’ as it was fun to get blind folded and try and get through the course.”

“It was ‘The Maze’ which was the most enjoyable for me as we had to work together to get the ball to the finish line without letting it fall into the holes.”

“I like the ‘Magic Carpet’ activity most where we had to turn the mat over while everyone stood on it and because we did it super quick because of teamwork.”

And summing up the day was the student who said: “What I enjoyed most was everyone working together to try and solve so many different challenges.

We’d like to thank our Development Fund supporters for funding this fantastic project. If you would like to find out more the Development Fund and the impact it has on our students, please click here
