Brimming with confident and virtuoso performances, parents, staff and members of the School community were captivated and enthralled by the high quality performances of our talented musicians and choristers, during our annual summer recital on Wednesday 11th July.

After months of rehearsal under the leadership of Director of Music Mr Emery and Miss Horton our senior orchestra opened this popular event with an exquisite and highly technical performance of Allegro, from the first movement of Schumann’s Piano Concerto No 1, with talented Year 12 pianist Johnathan Liu delivering a breath-taking solo performance.

The spotlight also fell on our string groups and brass ensemble, who performed with confidence and enthusiasm and jazz band whose famous flair, vibrancy and exuberance was infectious during performances of Feelin’ the Funk and Coming Home Baby.

The event provided a perfect opportunity for our choir to deliver one last performance before embarking on their tour of Italy, which will see them perform in Venice and Florence this summer.

Thanks must go to Mr Emery and Miss Horton for their industrious work over the past three months. The volume and length of the applauses after each piece, and at the end, tells its own story of the treat and feast of musical expertise that the audience experienced.
