The Liverpool Echo has published its Real Schools Guide 2020 and we are delighted that The Blue Coat School has been named the best school in Merseyside, Halton and Warrington.
The guide identifies the region’s top performing schools in the region ranked by a number of factors, including recent examination results. Our 2019 exam season culminated with an exceptional set of results, with both A Level and GCSE students having their hard work rewarded. At A Level of all grades 61% were A* – A and 82% were A* – B, with students achieving the highest number of A* – A grades ever achieved at Blue Coat. Our Year 11 students celebrated some of the best GCSE results ever recorded at the School and of all grades 54% were ‘9-8’ and 78% were ‘9-7’.
Our regional ranking reflects the enormous amount of focus and energy shown by our students and staff, and firmly cements Blue Coat’s position as one of the region’s and UK’s leading state schools.
Reflecting on the news Headteacher Mrs Yates stated: “We are thrilled that the success of our students and our school has been recognised through the awarding of this accolade. It is an excellent piece of news that we can all celebrate at the end of this unusual and challenging school year.”
