“The beginning of the autumn term saw the launch of the 2019-2020 Parents’ Association 100 Club. This is a small lottery with a monthly 1st prize of almost £100 and a handy double draw at Christmas. We also held our much anticipated Key Stage 3 Halloween disco which saw some fantastic costumes and a full dance floor all evening.
Something new to the PA this year was a Family Race night held on 8th November in the school Dining Hall in association with Exclusive Race Nights. The evening consisted of 9 races including a pig race and a novelty ‘slowest Afghan Hound’ race. All who attended had a wonderful time and we would like to thank everyone who supported us on the night especially Barclays Bank.
The Parents’ Association has made a commitment to use less single use plastic wherever possible and have teamed up with the school, who have bought a glass washer for our joint use. One of our members has also joined the student led Eco committee and is actively sourcing an alternative to plastic glasses at larger events. We are proud to say our Race Night was a totally ‘plastic free’ night.
December is a busy month in school. Once again we supported the Carol Service and Festive Music Concert, supplying refreshments, Mr Caulkin’s famous mulled wine and mince pies while we all enjoyed listening to our talented students perform festive pieces.
The Parents’ Association Christmas Raffle was launched in mid November, with an amazing ‘Student Only’ prize of a £500 Liverpool One Voucher. Prizes also included a £200 ‘Dine and Shop’ Voucher, a Premium Gin Set and a Luxury Christmas hamper. We would like to thank our wonderful donors and everyone who supported us by buying Raffle Tickets. Full details of the prizes and donors can be found on the Parents’ Association pages of the School website and on Twitter @BluecoatPA.
This term so far the Parents’ Association are delighted to have co-funded a number of school projects with the Development Fund, including the RS department who were able to send a group of Year 8 students to an event organised by Academy Conferences. We also supported the History department’s ‘Lessons from Auschwitz’ training course and we provided funds towards Key Stage 3 Chemistry Club.”
