The Sunday Times has published its prestigious Parent Power Schools Guide 2019 and we are delighted that The Blue Coat School has been ranked 28th nationally amongst state schools and 3rd in the North West.
The list identifies the highest performing schools in the UK, ranked by recent examination results. Our 2019 exam season culminated with an exceptional set of results, with both A Level and GCSE students having their hard work rewarded. At A Level of all grades 61% were A* – A and 82% were A* – B, with students achieving the highest number of A* – A grades ever achieved at Blue Coat. Our Year 11 students celebrated some of the best GCSE results ever recorded at the School and of all grades 54% were ‘9-8’ and 78% were ‘9-7’.
Our national and regional ranking reflects the enormous amount of focus and energy shown by our students and staff, and firmly cements Blue Coat’s position as one of the UK’s leading state schools.
Reflecting on the news Headteacher Mr Pennington stated: “We are so pleased that our students’ hard work and talent has been recognised in this way, and I would like to thank all of our teaching, pastoral and support staff for inspiring out students to achieve such a fantastic outcome in their summer exams.”
In 2015 the School was awarded ‘State Secondary School of the Year’ by The Sunday Times.
