On Thursday 4th July we opened our doors for our annual open evening, providing prospective students and their families with a chance to sample some of the amazing opportunities The Blue Coat School can offer its students.
This year’s event was incredibly well attended, attracting over 1,650 visitors, the highest attendance ever recorded at a Blue Coat open evening. With Shirley Hall closed for the remainder of the academic year for renovation works, visitors were for the first time invited into the School’s beautiful Chapel, to hear more about our admissions procedure from headteacher Mr Pennington. Due to the high level of interest it was necessary for Mr Pennington to deliver an unprecedented fifth admissions presentation.
Away from the calm atmosphere of the Chapel a fantastic buzz emanated from each department. Guided by our Year 7 and Year 8 students, our visitors were provided with an access-all-areas tour which included a series of interactive activities, from stimulating science experiments to closely fought chess matches and mind-boggling maths puzzles. Staff and students from all three Key Stages were available throughout the event to provide a first-hand insight into Blue Coat School life, from aspects of the school curriculum to our thriving extra-curricular clubs and societies.
If you were unable to attend our open evening further information about our September 2020 admissions procedure, including our online application form, can be accessed here.
