On Friday 4th July Old Blue Helen Johnson gave an informative and humorous talk, on reading physics at university, life at university, which university?, careers in physics and finance aspects of studying for a degree.
Helen left The Blue Coat School in 2008 to read for a four year Physics degree at Durham University. Having achieved a first class honours degree she is now doing her PhD at Durham in Astrophysics. Her talk gave a real and honest insight to our students about all aspects of physics degrees and university life.
It was a pleasure to welcome back Helen for her second annual visit and we were delighted to hear how much she enjoys coming back to the School. Physics is in her family as she reminded us that her younger brother Mark, also an Old Blue, is at Durham university, reading physics!
The picture shows Helen surrounded by Blue Coat physics teachers, from left to right, David Mercer, Bernard Doherty and Keith Caulkin.
