Now! Festival 2023

On Thursday 9th February 2023, 13 Blue Coat students from years 7-10 took part in the Now! Young People’s Mental Health Festival 2023.  Children and young people across Merseyside came together to perform in the city’s eighth annual NOW Festival during Children’s Mental Health Week.

Produced by Merseyside Youth Association, in partnership with the Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership, young people from across the Liverpool City Region shared their voices on mental health and violence prevention. Racism, sexual harassment, online abuse, homophobic abuse, hate crime, and many more topics were explored in a variety of powerful performances.

The Blue Coat entry was a drama piece, entitled ‘Silence Fuels Violence’ and explored the importance of the role of an ‘Active Bystander’ in violence prevention.  The Students were a credit to themselves and to the School throughout the process which resulted in a powerful and thought-provoking performance.

On the evening the School received the award for ‘Best Communicated Message’!

Thank you to everyone involved, we were extremely proud of you!
