Blue Coat’s two top organists starred at Neston Music Festival in May playing solo recitals.
Simon Cheung performed his first solo organ concert ever at St Mary’s Neston Parish Church with Daniel Greenway chosen by organisers to close Festival event, also at St Mary’s.
Daniel and Simon, both Year 12 students, were invited to play by Scirard Lancelyn-Green, secretary of Liverpool Organists’ Association, after performing at the Blue Coat School Gala Organ Concert, at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, back in January.
Reflecting on the Festival Simon remarked: “The Neston Music Festival was a valuable opportunity to showcase my passion for organ playing in an historical and professional setting for the enjoyment of the public. I found the sense of achievement (and relief!) after I finished a very motivational message, indicating that I can achieve once impossible things with hard work and perseverance.”
Mr Lancelyn-Green said: “We were very pleased to present these two young organists who are studying one of the most complex and demanding of instruments. They were both very impressive and we have invited them back to perform again next year.”
