Imagine a place where great thinking happens. A stimulating space to learn, study and collaborate, a place to be proud of our heritage and to influence the future.
We believe that our world class students deserve a world class library facility offering twenty-first century technology and design ideas that will help inspire future generations of Blue Coat doctors, engineers, lawyers and even politicians.
The library as it currently stands is not used to its full potential, with areas of poorly utilised space, outdated facilities and resources. As such we have taken the decision to embark on a new and exciting project that will involve the whole School community; from students to Old Blues, from parents to Governors, drawing upon their creative thinking to help us to transform the library into an outstanding environment.
Throughout the process we will be working with a number of departments and societies to explore concepts such as, ‘reading for pleasure and its role in learning’ and ‘what is the role of a modern library?’. Additionally a small group of students will accompany staff to visit a number of local school libraries to see first-hand how modern library facilities are being delivered across Liverpool.
To assist with the project we are delighted to welcome back Old Blue Matthew Waddelow from the Class of 2007. Currently a trainee architect with award winning international firm Broadway Malyan, Matthew will be helping the School with professional advice and architectural drawings and models, bringing our ideas to life.
Our vision of a new library will culminate in a launch event this May, an event which will showcase our plans for the library and kick-start our Library Appeal.
