At the start of the new academic year our Lower Sixth students took part in a series of team building exercises. This action packed event, funded by the Development Fund and organised by ‘Mountain Monkeys’, was designed to help longstanding students and new Blue Coat students build new friendships.
Throughout the day students engaged in a wide range of competitive activities, including problem solving, running, rock climbing, caving and archery, to name just a few. Encouraging one another out of their ‘comfort zones’ and into their ‘stretch zones’, our students demonstrated excellent ambition, and aspiration as well as strong leadership and teamwork skills.
For our Key Stage 5 team, watching our students throw themselves into different challenges and enjoying themselves, were markers of a successful event.
Reflecting on the event Year 12 student Pamela remarked, “The team building day was an active way for me to get to know new faces, and to also have a laugh whilst doing a variety of outdoor tasks with my form group. I will never forget cannonballing into a freezing lake with my fellow classmates and form tutor!”
Without the support of our Development Fund supporters this activity, designed to enhance Blue Coat School life, would not been possible.
