The Blue Coat School is delighted that four of our students were selected to join the team of reporters and photographers at the International Festival of Business which is taking place throughout June and July in 2014.
Pupils from primary and secondary schools submitted entries to be either a reporter or photographer at some of IFB’s most exciting events and get experience of the world of journalism. The entries were whittled down to determine the winners in each category, who will report back throughout the festival. Pupils from Liverpool Learning Partnership schools were invited to submit a piece which they felt summed up the city. Thirty of the best were then selected to join the team of reporters and photographers who will be on the ground throughout the festival. Each member has been assigned events to attend, from large business conferences to events focussed on young people and highlights from the cultural programme.
The young people involved will get a taste of the world of journalism, giving useful experience and creating lasting memories of their involvement with the festival.
“Enjoying photography as a hobby, having the opportunity to be a Young Photographer for the IFB has really given me an insight into the professional world of journalism and press photography. Being able to meet with Roy, a photographer for the Liverpool Echo, has showed me what an interesting job it can be, meeting with famous people and learning how to effectively communicate with them. I can’t wait for the upcoming weeks were we’ll be able to interview and photograph many senior people within the festival, and be able to network with other young people with similar interests.” Sam, Year 12
