Designed to stretch and challenge Year 12 chemistry students, the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge provides an excellent opportunity for students considering pursuing their chemistry studies further. Accessible to Year 12 students, this prestigious competition takes participants significantly beyond the syllabus and encourages them to think about science in the same way they would at university.
Eminent chemist Deniz reports on a very successful 2019 Cambridge Chemistry Challenge.
“Recently, my fellow classmates and I took part in the prestigious Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, C3L6, a very difficult and extremely challenging Year 12 exam.
I am immensely grateful to former Blue Coat Chemistry teacher Mr Cowan for dedicating hours of time to our after school training sessions, I and many other students were able to achieve a prize in this challenge. I am delighted to share that I was awarded the Roentgenium prize, which is only awarded to the top 54 participants out of over 9,000 entries from across the UK. Therefore, I have subsequently been invited to a Chemistry Camp at Cambridge which I will attend in late August and I am greatly looking forward to it.
I’d like to give a special thanks to our Chemistry Department but, specifically, Mr Cowan for helping me achieve this wonderful result.”
