New Covid restrictions sadly led to the cancellation of the School Carol Concert, but our festive assemblies went ahead with fabulous performances from our Jazz and Concert bands.

Four festive assemblies attended by students from all Key Stages took place in Shirley Hall during the two weeks leading up to Christmas.

Over 40 students performed a range of festive songs, one of which ‘The Christmas Song’ featured an amazing vocal section from Year 12 student Louise.

Assistant Headteacher Mrs Bakstad, who was in charge of the event, said: “At this time of year many of us celebrate Christmas, however, we also wanted to acknowledge that there are many other similar festivals celebrated across the year in all of our different communities within the school.

“Year 7 students including Vikor, Trisha, Ayann, Parvathi, Molly and Darcy provided an insight into some of the celebrations and what they mean to each of them. These included St Nicholas, Diwali, Onam, Eid and Christmas.”

The assemblies also reflected on and celebrated the success of a series of recent charity projects including the ’12 Days of Christmas’ foodbank appeal and Socktober sock appeal by showing a short video made by Year 11 students.

“It was a lovely end to a busy and eventful term. Thank you to all involved and Happy Christmas,” added Mrs Bakstad.
