As part of our Careers Information Advice and Guidance programme we welcomed a wide range of organisations and universities to our 2020 Careers Fair, on Thursday 5th March.
For students in Years 8 and 11 currently considering which GCSE and A Level subjects to study, and Year 12 students exploring their post 18 options, this event provided the perfect opportunity to gain an insight into the world of work and to speak to a number of employers representing organisations including Brabners and Unilever. Throughout the event a series of specialist talks covering topics such as apprenticeships, biomedical science, finance, law and business media, also took place.
We were delighted that fifteen Old Blues were able to attend and provide our students with valuable advice and support during this crucial time. Some of our inspiring Old Blues included solicitor Zoe Glacken from the Class of 2009, Holly Ellis and Lucy Nugent from the Class of 2011 representing biomedical science, civil engineer Elena Lindsay from the Class of 2015 and paramedic Tom Maloney from the Class of 2009.
Reflecting on the event our visitors spoke very highly of our students’ skills and interests. Students asked very pertinent and perceptive questions, which kept our delegates on their toes.
For Assistant Headteacher Ms Holland, who organised the event, “I was very proud of the way in which the students engaged in conversations and made the most of the opportunities at the Fair.”
“The evening was a great success. Huge thanks goes out to all those who were involved in making this such a rewarding, informative and popular event.”
