For our Year 12 Chemistry students the Cambridge Chemistry challenge provides a great opportunity to explore this complex and fascinating subject beyond the A Level syllabus. With the outbreak of Covid-19 and the closure of schools up and down the country, this summer’s competition was thrown into jeopardy, but thanks to a huge number of requests from teachers and students the competition went ahead, albeit under slightly different circumstances.
Speaking on the competition Head of Chemistry Mrs Maskell said, “We’ve had great success over the past few years, with pupils selected to go on the Cambridge residential. In order to give pupils the opportunity to enter this year we are going online and conducting revision sessions and the test via video conferencing!”
This popular nationwide competition aims to stretch and challenge students with a passion for chemistry, and provides an excellent experience for anyone considering studying Chemistry at university. Set by an experienced team of teachers and university chemists, it is designed to be accessible to Year 12 students and encourages them to think about science in the way they would at university.
Results for this prestigious competition will be published later month and we look forward to sharing them with you.
