On Tuesday 24th May eight Blue Coat Business Studies’ students took part in the Survitec Make It Enterprising Challenge. The annual event, organised by the Manufacturing Institute, provides students from across Merseyside with a fantastic opportunity to sample the manufacturing sector and a chance to develop their creativity and enterprising skills.
Over the course of the one day event participants set about completing the challenge set by Survitec to design a piece of survival equipment. Drawing on their own areas of expertise our team of eight appointed a managing director, chief designer and finance manager to to ensure the project process ran as smoothly as possible. The team worked together to create a well thought out survival pod, which had the ability to turn it into an eight man raft with inbuilt GPS. On completing their prototype the team pitched their design to the judging panel. The panel were thoroughly impressed with the survival pod and announced The Blue Coat School as overall winners of the competition.
Members of the team will now compete in the Survitec Make It Enterprising Challenge grand final which will take place in Manchester later this year.
We would like to congratulate everyone who took part and wish them all the very best of luck as they prepare for the grand final.
