On Thursday 30th April some of our youngest mathematicians took part in the UKMT Junior Challenge, aimed at the top one third of students in Years 7 and 8. This year over 200,000 students from across the country took part, answering 25 challenging questions under normal exam conditions.

Blue Coat students rose to the challenge, achieving 33 Gold, 54 Silver and 48 Bronze certificates, with 12 students qualifying for the next round of the competition which will be held on Tuesday 9th June.

Congratulations to all students but particularly to Katy Farrell who qualified for the Junior Maths Olympiad. Safwan Albeshti, Jacob Calderbank, Henry Cheng, Natalie Fernig, Gabriel Haywood, Kenan Houssen, Rujun Huang, Heather McNulty, Deniz Rad, Jithin Sajan, Ben Silva and Ben Simcock have all qualified for the Junior Kangaroo.

We wish our students the best of luck as they prepare for their next mathematical challenge.
