The winners of the 2015 Britten Young Songwriter Competition have after weeks of nervous anticipation been announced, and we are thrilled to report that The Blue Coat School’s very own talented young composer Cassie White has been recognised by this year’s judges.

This year competition organisers, Friday Afternoons and Aldeburgh Music, invited participants to compose a piece of music for ‘Waves of time A song of Southwold’ written especially for the competition by popular author, poet and playwright Michael Morpurgo. Eager to demonstrate her love of composition Cassie spent several weeks working on and perfecting her arrangement to Michael Morpurgo’s lyrics.

Cassie’s hard work will be rewarded on Friday 20th November when her song will be performed as part of Friday Afternoons’ celebration at Snape Maltings’ Concert Hall in Suffolk. Cassie’s song will also be professionally recorded and available to listen to at www.fridayafternoonsmusic.co.uk.
