Charity cake sales are a regular feature in the Blue Coat staff room, but due to the School’s current temporary closure this year’s Alzheimer’s Society Cupcake Day looked a little different.
To ensure staff could still support the charity and enjoy some cupcakes at the same time, teaching and support staff were invited to place their cupcake order online. On Saturday 30th May Ms Barwell, Blue Coat’s very own Mary Berry, donned her apron which was very kindly made by a Year 12 student, dusted off her baking bowls and whipped out her whisks and baked over 120 vanilla and chocolate cupcakes. The frosting alone weighed over 4.5kg! Once baked Miss Rowe was entrusted with the task of delivering Miss Barwell’s delicious cupcakes to doorsteps across south Liverpool.
We are delighted to report that this event raised £460 for Alzheimer’s Society.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to Ms Barwell for baking so many delicious cupcakes, to Miss Rowe for ensuring their safe delivery and to all staff who generously supported this event.
