Five Blue Coat School students are delighted to have been chosen to take part in the International Festival of Business Volunteer Programme. The Festival is taking place in Liverpool throughout June and July and the volunteering offers a fantastic opportunity for the students to obtain accredited training in ‘World Host Suite in Customer Excellence’.
Our students were selected to volunteer at one of the key events of the festival; the BT Global City Leaders’ Summit which was held at St. George’s Hall on 17 & 18 June.
At the summit more than 200 city leaders from around the world came together to examine their common challenge: how to generate sustainable economic growth in an age of austerity. The keynote speech was delivered by Bruce Katz, Vice President of the Brookings Institution. The other speakers included The Rt, Hon. Greg Clark, MP (UK Minister for cities), Joe Anderson OBE, the elected Mayor of Liverpool and BT Group plc CEO, Gavin Patterson. Members of United Cities and Local Government also took part in the Summit.
The students were fantastic ambassadors for the School, they welcomed delegates to the conference and assisted visitors with any queries they had and enjoyed their experience thoroughly.
