Art is the study of the visual world but also the expression of ideas, identity, and philosophy. To facilitate this, we seek to provide students with both the technical skills required to convey their thoughts and ideas but also an ability to develop these ideas and independent thoughts in the first place.

Using contextual references from the gamut of Art history, we try to develop students’ understanding of how their work relates to what has gone before but also how they can go on to develop their own personal voice and identity.

Students who study Art at Blue Coat should leave us with the skills, confidence, and ability to make a success of whatever creative field they choose to pursue when they leave us.
