Religious Studies
Religious Studies at the Blue Coat School engages students in religious and non-religious world views shared and experienced by members of our school community as well as the wider community of Liverpool and Britain today. This enables students to reflect on their own world views and to make sense of the diverse, complex world around them. Students will work to make progress in substantive knowledge, ways of knowing, and personal knowledge. Opportunities outside the classroom (trips, societies, competitions, student leadership) enhance and enrich our RS program.
Parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child, either wholly or partly, from Religious Education lessons. This right is set out in education legislation and applies to all maintained schools and academies.
At our school, Religious Education is taught in an inclusive and respectful way, encouraging understanding of different beliefs, values and cultures. We believe it plays an important role in pupils’ personal, social and moral development.
Parents or carers who wish to exercise their right to withdraw their child from RE are asked to contact the school in writing to discuss their request. Alternative arrangements will be made for pupils who are withdrawn, in line with statutory requirements.
If you would like further information about our RE curriculum or the withdrawal process, please contact the school office.
Please find below the Curriculum Mapping for each Key Stage. Please note that Curriculum Maps are currently under review.
