Last month we reported on the success of Year 13 physics’ enthusiast Callum in the British Physics Olympiad.

Callum, who received a Top Gold in the first round of the competition, progressed to Round 2 which involved sitting a 3 hour paper tackling questions on gravitation and electromagnetism. Callum’s extensive knowledge and passion for the subject was rewarded with a second Gold Award and a place in the top 15 nationally. Such an outstanding performance secured Callum an invitation to a four day intensive training workshop held at the University of Oxford.

We are delighted to announce that following Callum’s visit to Oxford he has been selected for the British Physics Olympiad team and will compete in the International round of the competition, which will be held in Indonesia in July. Eighty-eight countries will participate in this prestigious international event.

We wish Callum every success in July, hoping he brings yet another Gold Award home with him!
