TRICENTENARY

Tricentenary Update

Tricentenary seal - 1708-2008The Blue Coat School was three hundred years old in 2008. The Tricentenary Committee plan and prepare a programme of celebrations and special events for the year 2007-08.

Projects

Brand new Astroturf sports pitches have been developed on the school games field and the students all benefit greatly from these.

The new Sixth Form Study was developed in the East Wing of the main school (near the Clock Tower) for Year 13 students.

Events

The Philharmonic Concert

One of the special celebratory events for the School’s 300th birthday was a musical concert at the prestigious Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, which took place on Monday 17th March and was a momentous occasion in the history of the School.

The musicians and choristers excelled themselves. Special thanks extended to Mr Cook, as Director of Music, and Miss Horton for the many hours of rehearsals which were necessary to ensure such a scintillating concert.

St George’s Hall Concert

This was the School’s second special concert to celebrate the three hundredth Birthday.

The concert was as successful as the one held in the Philharmonic Hall. It was another brilliant success, played out before a full audience in the Small Concert Room. It was a fitting and memorable celebration for our grand school.

Celebration Dinner at the Town Hall

On the evening of Friday 4th July 2008, Parents and friends of Blue Coat students joined the Headmaster, Governors and Staff on this exceptional evening. The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress were also in attendance and the evening marked a very special occasion in the Tricentenary Calendar of events.
