2016/17 was yet another fantastic year for our talented sportsmen and women.

Netball

For the first time in Blue Coat history our Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 netball teams won the Premiership Netball League and the City Championships netball tournament. The talent emanating from our Year 7 and 8 teams ensures that netball’s future at the School remains extremely bright.

We are delighted that two members of our Year 7 squad, Erin and Chantal, have made it into the Merseyside Development Netball squad. Erin and Chantal will embark on their new challenge when training begins in the autumn.

Cricket

Away from the netball courts our Year 7 and Year 9 cricket teams were awarded Liverpool city champion status, with Year 10 named runners up in a tightly fought season.

Alongside their commitment to Blue Coat cricket, four of our talented players have received district honours:

Year 7. Samuel – Liverpool district team

Year 8. Abhiram – St Helens district team

Year 9. Christaneo – Lancashire and Liverpool district team

Year 10. Michael – Liverpool district team

Rugby

Students in Year 7 received an introduction to Rugby League earlier this year when members of Widnes Vikings’ outreach team visited the School to deliver a series of energetic workshops.

As well as developing and grasping a number of new skilled techniques and tactics, participants social and personal skills were enhanced through team work, co-ordination and communication. Everyone involved had a fantastic time and came away with greater confidence and self-esteem.

Sports Day

Despite being initially postponed due to the Great British summer, this year’s Sports Day finally got underway on Thursday 13th July. Sporting their House colours of green, red, blue, orange and yellow, students cheered on their fellow classmates as they took to the running track to compete in a series of races including the 100m and the highlight anticipated House relay. Students also demonstrated their strength in the shot putt.
