Governors

The Blue Coat School is a Voluntary Aided School with two governing bodies, each with its own distinct role.

The Foundation Governors

The Foundation Governors manage the historic assets of the school in the form of the Trust Fund. As is legally provided for in the case of Voluntary Aided Schools, a number of Foundation Governors also serve on the Governing Body.

Instrument of Government

  1. The name of the school is The Blue Coat School.
  2. The school is a voluntary aided school.
  3. The name of the governing body is: the Governing Body of The Blue Coat School
  4. The governing body shall consist of:
    1. 3 parent governors
    2. 2 LEA governors
    3. 4 staff governors (including the head teacher)
    4. 11 foundation governors, of whom four shall, at the time of their appointment, be eligible for election or appointment as parent governors.
      Total number of governors: 20.
  5. Foundation Governors are appointed and may be removed by the Blue Coat School Foundation, which is a registered charity.
  6. If there is any excess in the number of foundation governors, thebody named in paragraph 5 above shall remove sufficient foundation governors to ensure that such excess is eliminated.
  7. This Instrument of Government came into effect on 1st September 2005.
  8. This Instrument was made by the order of Liverpool Children’s Services Authority on 7th July 2005.
