A spaghetti challenge, wine tasting and Halloween disco were all part of the rich tapestry that is Blue Coat School Parents’ Association, which combines members having an enjoyable time while raising much-needed funds for students.

“At our annual New Year 7 Social Evening in September, the Parents’ Association and Development Team gave a joint presentation on how we raise money for the School and how it’s spent on our students. Formalities over, we set the parents ‘the spaghetti challenge’ over a glass of wine. Good fun was had by all of our very competitive parents. Thank you to all who attended and to those who joined the Parents’ Association mailing list on the night.

Our popular Wine Tasting Evening with Oddbins and The Liverpool Cheese Company returned in October. Held in the School Chapel’s beautiful surroundings, our guests sampled five delicious wines and took part in a witty quiz by Mike Stoddart, of Oddbins, Allerton Road. Our thanks to Mike, The Liverpool Cheese Company and all who attended, including the Chair of Governors, Julia Shaw, who supplied the quiz prize.

We were also busy with the Halloween Disco, the 100+CLUB and our fantastic Christmas Raffle which boasted a £500 Liverpool One voucher, an iPad and a Luxury Festive Hamper among the many prizes on offer. (A huge thank you to all of our donors). Headteacher Mr Pennington drew the winning tickets on 14 December and the prize winners have been notified.

This Autumn Term the Parents’ Association donated funds to the English Department for its Lunchtime Reading Club, the Chemistry Department for its KS3 Chemistry Club, and £2,500 to the Art and DT Department for art equipment and a 3D printer.

We look forward to seeing you all at our PA events in the New Year. Our next meeting is 7pm on Monday 7th January.”
