The Blue Coat School is a mixed selective school for students aged 11 – 18, which converted to Academy status on 1st March 2012. We are over 300 years old so we are rich in tradition, yet we are forward-looking in ideas and technology. Whilst we have a reputation for Academic results, there are many events and activities which make The Blue Coat School experience very exciting and rewarding.

The Application and Admissions procedure for 2017 is now open.

The Blue Coat School will admit 180 students to Year 7 in September 2017

Year 5 students and their parents were warmly invited to our Year 7 Open Evening on Thursday 7th July 2016.   Our Open Evening provided an excellent opportunity to look around the School and gain a greater insight into life at The Blue Coat School.  Staff and students were available throughout the evening to answer any questions visitors had about the School or its curriculum.  Throughout the evening there was an opportunity to hear from the Headteacher, Mr. Pennington about our admissions process.

If you were unable to attend the Open Evening you can view the Headteacher’s presentation here.

The Application form and further information is now available to download below or by collection from the School office between 9am and 4pm from Friday 8th July 2016.

Admissions Pack 2017

The Blue Coat School Sixth Form is the largest in the city, with 200 students in our current Year 12 and over 180 in Year 13. We have great flexibility in our curriculum – there are 18 A level courses to choose from and it is rare that students aren’t able to study the combination they choose.
