The Blue Coat School is a mixed selective school for students aged 11 – 18, which converted to Academy status on 1st March 2012. We are over 300 years old so we are rich in tradition, yet we are forward-looking in ideas and technology. Whilst we have a reputation for Academic results, there are many events and activities which make The Blue Coat School experience very exciting and rewarding.

The Blue Coat School consulted about proposed changes to its admissions arrangements for 6 weeks between 4th November to 19th December 2016. The consultation period has now closed.

The Blue Coat School Sixth Form is the largest in the city, with 200 students in our current Year 12 and over 180 in Year 13.

We have great flexibility in our curriculum – there are 18 A level courses to choose from and it is rare that students aren’t able to study the combination they choose.


Our Sixth Form Information Evening will take place on Monday 23rd January 2017 at 6.00 pm where you can hear further information including key dates and how to apply.
