The Department for Education (DfE) has published its Schools Performance Tables based on this year’s GCSE results, and we are extremely proud to be ranked as the top school in Liverpool.

Blue Coat students achieved one grade higher in ¾ of their GCSEs than students of similar ability in other schools.

This year’s GCSE results were a fantastic reflection of the commitment and hard work shown by our exceptionally talented students.

2017 marked the implementation of a new, more challenging, syllabus in Mathematics and English, and our Year 11 students certainly rose to the challenge. Nearly one third of all Mathematics and English grades awarded were the highest grade possible and 10 students achieved grade 9’s in all three English and Mathematics GCSE’s.

Of all grades awarded in Maths and English:

• 57% were 9 – 8
• 83% were 9 – 7

Of all grades awarded in other subjects:
• 78% were A* – A
• 95% were A* – B

Remarking on this fantastic news Headteacher Mr Pennington remarked, “we are delighted to see that our students outstanding achievements are recognised through our Progress 8 score. Their collective achievement makes us extremely proud today and, is a great reminder of what a great pleasure it is for the staff at Blue Coat to work with such talented young people.”
