Welcome From The Chair Of The Blue Coat School Governing Body

The Blue Coat School consists of many parts which come together into what I like to call Team Blue Coat to provide a quality education and continuous personal development - the bedrock upon which our students can build their future and make it theirs.
One part of that team consists of 22 school governors who freely give their time to help shape the Blue Coat School’s future direction and focus.
The Headteacher and her staff are accountable for the fostering of a learning environment where students can stretch for academic achievement and also find the necessary spiritual, moral, social and cultural development which will prepare them to find their place in life.
I consider the Governing Body is equally accountable for its work on monitoring the strategic direction of the School and tracking its academic performance. Therefore, it is important that parents, as well as teaching and general staff, can monitor the work of the governing body itself.

As the Governing Body of the Blue Coat School, we are individually and collectively committed to acting with integrity, objectivity and honesty and in the best interests of the Blue Coat School - also ensuring that we are open about and prepared to explain our decisions and actions.

This website plays a key part in the fulfilment of this aspiration and will include termly updates of the work of its committees. I vigorously welcome feedback on the website itself as well as any issues of individual concern.
