The Blue Coat School Governing Body monitors key areas of the school’s business through a number of committees to ensure speedy and efficient decision making and the highlighting of issues of concern as necessary for the consideration of the full governing body.
The Admissions Committee is responsible for consulting annually on the Blue Coat School’s Admissions Policy; setting and applying the provisions of the Admission Policy; making decisions on applications and arranging for any admission appeals.

The Curriculum Committee is responsible for ensuring the National Curriculum is taught to all its pupils; the application of a curriculum policy; the standards of teaching; the determination of subject options; provision of flexibility in the curriculum; to ensure the curriculum is balanced and broadly based.

The Finance and General Purposes Committee is responsible for the consideration and approval of an annual school budget; monitoring of expenditure; investigation of irregularities; management of contracts; determine the delegation of parts of the annual budget to the Headteacher and associated amounts; the use of school premises.
