Our Year 13 Leavers’ Service, held on Friday 25th May in the School chapel, was a poignant affair with a mixture of thankfulness, sadness and excitement as our students move on to pastures new. There were thanks from the head boy and head girl Joseph and Laura on behalf of the student body to all that they have learnt at The Blue Coat School, gratefulness to their teaching staff, the support staff and the noting of strong friendships they have made with each other that will last for life.

The service drew to a close with staff and students treated to a beautiful rendition of ‘Bridge over Troubled Water’ by Lucy Backstrom and a joyful ‘Stand by Me’ sung by Year 13 members of the choir.

Welcoming our latest cohort of Old Blues to our international alumni network were Lucy Nugent and Holly Ellis, from the Class of 2011. Both shared their memories of Blue Coat and highlighted their current careers in STEM, University of Oxford graduate Holly is currently training to be a geneticist at Liverpool’s Women’s Hospital and Lucy who is based at Whiston Hospital where she is training to be clinical immunologist.

We wish the Class of 2018 the very best of luck as they prepare for the next exciting phase of their education.
