The Blue Coat School is once again celebrating an outstanding set of examination results. This year’s GCSE results are a fantastic reflection of the commitment and hard work shown by our exceptionally talented students.

2017 marked the implementation of a new, more challenging, syllabus in Mathematics and English, and our Year 11 students certainly rose to the challenge. Nearly one third of all Mathematics and English grades awarded were the highest grade possible and 10 students achieved grade 9’s in all three English and Mathematics GCSE’s.

Of all grades awarded in Maths and English:

  • 57% were 9 – 8
  • 83% were 9 – 7

Of all grades awarded in other subjects:

  • 78% were A* – A
  • 95% were A* – B

Year 11 approached their examinations with the same positive attitude as their A Level counterparts, and the confidence they have shown in their chosen subjects has grown rapidly over the past twelve months, thanks to our inspirational teaching and support staff.

Commenting on this year’s results Headteacher Mr Pennington stated: “We are extremely proud of our students who have achieved these remarkable results. Great teaching, great learning and great support have all made huge contributions to this high volume of top grades. Well done everybody.”

As the summer break draws to a close we look forward to welcoming back our talented students in September, and wish them every success as they embark on their A Level courses.
