On Friday 10th November The Blue Coat School Community gathered together for an Act of Remembrance, to honour those who have been killed, injured or affected by conflict.

The service, which included poems such as Major John McCrae’s In Flanders Fields and Robert Laurence Binyon’s For The Fallen, centred upon the self sacrifice and commitment of former Blue Coat students, during The Great War and The Second World War. In keeping with tradition, members of the Senior Prefect Team read the names of over one hundred former students recorded on our Chapel Memorial, including Hugh Owens, who was awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal, Ernest Shone and Thomas Yarker.

Performances of Debussy and Chopin provided moments of reflection and the sounding of the Last Post brought this poignant service to a close.
